The Solar Plexus Chakra

The Solar Plexus Chakra is located in the belly above the navel. This chakra governs our personality and ego, especially our self esteem. It is connected to the fire element. Its associated colour is yellow and the associated musical note is E, and the mantra is RAM. When the Solar Plexus chakra is balanced we feel confident, in control and free from anxiety. Symptoms of a blockage in this chakra will present as digestive issues, anxiousness, insecurity, lack of confidence and aggressive behaviours.

Healing the Solar Plexus Chakra

  • Practice hygge, be warm and cosy, pull on a weighted blanket for added security.

  • Eat yellow foods, oats and corn.

  • Crystals to surround yourself with include golden topaz, yellow citrine and amber.

  • Burn lemon or grapefruit essential oils.

  • Yoga poses to practice include bow pose, boat pose and crescent lunge.

  • Affirmations for the solar plexus include 'I take responsibility for my own life', 'I am worthy'

  • Journal prompts; What areas of my life do I not feel in control?why?, What are my true desires?

Guided meditation for the Solar Plexus chakra.

  • Lie down, somewhere you can feel completely relaxed.

  • Allow your body to melt into the floor, mat, bed, whatever is catching you.

  • Let your feet fall outwards.

  • Take 3 deep breaths.

  • Turn your attention to your navel, and visualise a small, warm yellow glow there.

  • On your next inhale, imagine the light growing bigger, warming the abdomen.

  • As you exhale, feel your belly soften.

  • Do this 3 more times, each time the light fills the belly more.

  • Gradually send the light down past the hips, allowing the glow to warm and release tension.

  • On the next inhale, allow the light to flow down the legs, rotating at the knee joints, exhaling and releasing any pain.

  • Travelling down to the ankles, warming and releasing, all the way down to the soles of the feet.

  • The whole lower half of your body is now totally relaxed.

  • On the next inhale, allow the light to travel up to the chest, surrounding and warming the heart.

  • Filling the back body, easing the shoulders so they drop away from the ears.

  • Inhale, the light grows bigger, moving up the neck, releasing the tension.

  • Send the light to the whole head, softening the jaw and the brow.

  • Your whole body is now relaxed.

  • Your body is surrendered to the earth beneath you.

  • You are completely relaxed.
