The Sacral Chakra

The Sacral Chakra, Svadhisthana, is located in the pelvis area and controls our physical health, well-being and immune system. This Chakra is connected to the water element. Its associated colour is orange, and its musical note is D. The mantra associated with this chakra is VAM. When the chakra is well balanced we feel physically well and our creative juices will flow, Symptoms of a blockage can show as feelings of frustration, guilt, lack of passion or creative blocks or physically as general feelings of being rundown or lack of energy.

Healing the Sacral chakra.

  • Get creative, dance, draw, sew, or write, whatever inspires you.

  • Eat orange foods, oranges (obviously!) carrots, butternut squash.

  • Crystals to keep with you include tigers eye, amber and orange calcite.

  • Burn jasmine or orange blossom essential oils.

  • Yoga poses for the Sacral Chakra include bound angle pose, goddess pose and frog pose.

  • Journal prompts; How do I express my creativity? What types of situations make me feel tense? How do I feel, right now in this moment?

Guided meditation for the Sacral Chakra

  • Take a moment to make yourself comfortable, either seated or lay down.

  • Take 3 deep breaths and begin to turn your attention inward.

  • Begin to imagine your ideal day, a day with no commitments or 'to do' lists.

  • A day with no rush, where everything moves at a relaxed pace.

  • A day all to yourself.

  • A day enjoying everything that brings you pleasure.

  • A day with no guilt of putting yourself first.

  • How does your day start?

  • Do you wake up early or have a lazy morning?

  • What would breakfast be?

  • How do you fill your morning?

  • would you choose to be outdoors? or cosy up inside?

  • As we head for the afternoon, think about lunch.

  • What foods make you feel good?

  • Do you eat quietly, or is it a TV meal?

  • What follows next?

  • What do you wish you had time to do but never seem to?

  • As day leads to evening, what would your favourite meal be?

  • Would you cook or have it made?

  • How would your evening look?

  • How would you prepare your mind and body for sleep?

  • Visualise your perfect bedtime routine.

  • Visualise yourself getting into bed and drifting off for a perfect nights sleep after your perfect day.

  • Take a moment now to choose just one thing from this perfect day, and make a commitment to yourself that you will carry out this one activity today, with no guilt for making time to yourself.

  • Knowing that you are worth this.
